In the Chemistry Division research activities are being conducted in
various areas of chemistry and biochemistry. In recent years the
scientific staff comprised 30 to 35 University teachers, research
scientists, research assistants and students. In order to facilitate the
research activities, the research in biochemistry is carried out in a
formal subdivision (called Biochemistry Section)
since January 1996.
In the year 1996 five University teachers and four research scientists
carried out their research at the Chemistry Division (without the
Biochemistry Section). In addition, over fifteen research assistants
and students were employed for longer and shorter periods of time during
1996.
The research efforts in the Chemistry Division include projects in the
following fields of chemistry: Physical chemistry, Inorganic chemistry,
Organometallic chemistry, Organic chemistry and Instrumental analysis.
