1978

Offered by Prof. Sir Brian Pippard(Cavendish Professor) and Prof D. Shoenberg to come The Cavendish Lab. University of Cambridge for PhD work in low temperature magnetism in metals.

1981

Offered the Clerk-Maxwell prize-scholarship for temperature modulation technique development.

1983

PhD Thesis "Electronic Structure and Magnetic Excitations in Ni 3Al". Supervised by G.G.Lonzarich.
Elected Research Fellow Darwin Collega Cambridge.

1985

Deemed qualified for the position of a professor in experimental physics by an international evaluation committee.

1986

Deemed qualified for a position of a professor in solid state physics by an international evaluation committee.

1987

A new position of a research scientist at the Science Institute.

Nominated together with Jon Halfdanarson for the Nordic technology prize.

Icelandic Alloys Chair (Donated to the University by the Corporation) as a
