Glacier Lake Outburst Floods from Vatnajökull
 

The ice cap Vatnajökull has about 20 main outlet glaciers, many of which dam one or more of the 14 known marginal lakes. Most of the lateral lakes trigger regularly, with
flood  intervals varying from several months to several years.
