In this master's thesis we investigate the far-infrared absorption of
a laterally confined 2DEG. Different modulation potential can be
applied to the system in addition to a perpendicular magnetic field.
The electron-electron interaction is calculated in the Hartree
approximation. We focus on the interplay of system size, i.e. the
size of the confining area, and the magnetic field. A transition from
a highly confined system to an almost homogenous system is observed as
the side lengths get much larger than the magnetic length.
